Hnahthial district demand committee gives ultimatum to CM
Aizawl, Mar 6(UNI) Hnahthial district demand committee today sent an ultimatum to Chief Minister Zoramthanga to fulfill his promise of upgrading Hnahthial to the status of a district or face consequences.
''Our chief minister has made a number of promises to make Hnahthial a district. This time he promised us again that our demand would be discussed in the Cabinet meeting on Friday,'' Hnahthial district demand committee chairman C Pakunga said at a press conference here today and added, ''This assurance does not mean that our demand has been met with. We will do anything to ensure that his promise is transformed into a reality,'' .
The Hnahthial district demand committee is determined to go to any length if their demand is not met with before the next state assembly elections due this year-end.
The district demand committee in Hnahthial comprises mainly top Mizo National Front workers. The chief minister may actually have to face them if he fails this time.
''If the previous Congress ministry could create five more districts, our present chief minister could create 10 more, given his capacity, but if he does not, we will conclude that he does not want to,'' Pakunga said.
