Goods train derails at Delhi-Howrah route
Aligarh/Kanpur, Mar 6 (UNI) At least 29 wagons of a goods train were derailed here early today on the Delhi-Howrah route, affecting rail traffic.
The goods train, comprising 58 wagons, was heading towards Kanpur, when it slipped off the track near Somna station, railway official Deepak Dubey said.
About 100 metre railway track was also damaged.
Repair work had been initiated and was expected to be completed by late evening, he added.
Meanwhile, one line was restored around 1200 hrs.
Following the mishap, several long-route trains were running late.
Delhi bound Rajdhani Express was detained at Kanpur till further clearance from Allahabad and Aligarh stations.
A huge rush of passengers was waiting at Kanpur central station for their onward journey.
