Kolkata, Mar 6 (UNI) West Bengal unit of Bharatiya Janata Party BJP) would observe March 14 as the Nandigram martyrs' day throughout the state.
Talking to newspersons here today, BJP state secretary Rahul Sinha said, ''We have already instructed all our units to organise meetings, rallies and conventions on the day in memory of those, who were killed in Nandigram police firing on March 14 last year.'' He said, ''The BJP's women's cell would take out a rally from the party office to Esplanade East, demanding 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha.'' He said in line with its commitment to grant 33 per cent reservation to women, the Delhi unit of BJP had already inducted 35 women in its office bearers' list and barring his own party, the CPI(M), Congress and the Trinamool Congress women's cell have not any presentation or any initiative for passing the bill.
The BJP's women cell will also meet West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and submit a memorandum demanding the imposition of Presidents' Rule in the state.
The state election commission should circulate the notification of the Panchayat elections immediately because the LF government were appeasing the minority community and poor people by distributing patta land rights ahead of the polls.
