Hyderabad, Mar 6: The BJP will face the byelections to the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats vacated by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the next general and Assembly elections on its own, party State unit President Bandaru Dattatreya said.
Talking to newspersons here today, he said the ruling Congress was striving to avoid byelections in the state out of fear to face the 'Telangana' people. The BJP leader said the party would go ahead with the 'Telangana bandh' on March 14, coinciding with the visit of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, to press for immediate creation of Telangana state.
Stating that the BJP wanted to show that the 'Telangana sentiment' was very much there, he said the Congress had been ''deceiving'' the people of the region on the statehood issue. ''Only a national party like the BJP, which had created three new states while it was in power, was in a position to create Telangana state too,'' he asserted.
BJP's Prime Ministrial candidate L K Advani would take out a 'Sankalp Yatra' in the state in the second week of April. On the general budget he said a large section of farmers were left out, while announcing interest waiver and one-time settlement for farmers.
