Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) It was a great day for a fan, a woman, who has, perhaps, paid the best tribute ever to her favourite actor, Tamil superstar Rajnikant.
An ophthalmologist by profession, Dr Gayathri, today launched the biography of Tamil superstar Rajnikant, which she has authored.
Former Rajya Sabha member 'Cho' Ramaswamy, himself a well-known stage and film comedian, released the book to a thunderous applause at a function in a five star hotel here.
The book is titled 'The name is Rajni' in English and 'Rajni pera kettale' in Tamil. It is also to be printed in Japanese, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada languages.
A few stalwarts in the Tamil film industry or Kollywood, as it is known, like A V M Saravanan of the famous A V M Studios and production company, in whose films Rajni had appeared in as many as seven movies in his career including his latest hit 'Sivaji', attended the launch.
Actors Amitabh and Kamal Hassan, who were originally scheduled to grace the occasion, could not make it and left to 'Cho' the task of fulfilling Dr Gayathri's dream tribute to her screen idol whose simplicity and humble nature inspired her to pen the story.
In addition to her own observations, the biography also has nuggets from some of Rajni's leading co-stars, including heroines and also reveals for the first time, the Marathi-born actor's hitherto unknown lineage, as it were.
