Uproar in Assembly over Naidu's disproportionate assets
Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Pandemonium prevailed in Andhra Pradesh Assembly when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today took strong exception to Housing Minister B Satyanarayana's sarcastic reference to Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu moving to higher courts against probe into 'liquor scam' and disproportionate assets case.
Angry TDP members rushed to the Speaker's podium and stalled the proceedings for some time when the Minister said he was bravely facing a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Lok Ayukta, as he had nothing to hide, unlike Mr Naidu, who went to higher courts in liquor scam and disproportionate assets case.
Mr Satyanarayana also questioned the credentials of TDP member C Venkata Rao when the latter referred to 'Volkswagen Scam'' while seeking clarification from Home Minister K Jana Reddy, in an incident involving his party colleague C Ayyanna Patrudu.
Deputy Speaker G Kutuhalamma, who was in the Chair, had a tough time in bringing the House to order.
Earlier, the TDP members stalled the proceedings for some time when Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motion notices by TDP, CPI, CPI(M) and BJP on acute power shortage in the State.
The TDP members were on their feet, demanding, setting aside of the listed business and taking up of the 'burning' issue immediately.
The Speaker restored order in the House, persuading opposition members to raise the issue during the debate on grants for the Electricity Department later in the day.
