London, Mar 5: Even as the Leicester Council is set to approve the installation of a statute worth 20,000 pounds, of India"s Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, a section of English civil society is protesting against the move saying Gandhi has "no connection" with the English culture.

Instead, the protesters favour the installation of a statue of soccer hero Gary Lineker (47), who scored 10 World Cup goals and was never booked in his playing career, reported The Sun. The statue of either of the two renowned figures is to be installed in a mainly Indian area of Leicester, the birthplace of Gary Lineker. Lineker, also a football TV host, played for Leicester and England and advertises the city"s Walkers crisps.
