Apart from Rajpal, Prabhjot Singh and VR Raghunath were the main scorers for India with four goals each while, Shivendra Singh (2), Tushar Khandekar (1) and Sardara Singh (1) rounded off the tally. Mexico started on a bright note, forcing three penalty corners in the first five minutes. But the Indians soon wrested the upper hand to lead 8-0 at the break. India maintained their momentum in the second half as the Mexican defence withered under their onslaught.

The eight-time Olympic champions completely dominated the proceedings as the Mexican forwards barely got a crack at the Indian goal.

However, Pol Moreno scored the consolation goal for Mexico right at the stroke of full time.

India now have nine points from their three matches. They had earlier beaten Russia 8-0 and Austria 7-3.

Meanwhile, in other matches, Great Britain, who lead the points table along with India, whipped hosts Chile 4-1 while Austria pipped Russia 5-4.

India, who have played in every Olympics since their debut in 1928, will face Great Britain in their next match tomorrow.
