Jammu, Mar 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today greeted people on the eve of Maha Shivratri, the festival marking the wedding ceremony of Lord Shiva and Parvati.
In his message, Lt Gen Sinha said Maha Shivratri inspires people to strive for truth, which leads to the ultimate consciousness epitomised by Lord Shiva.
''The festival lays stress on the values of piety, devotion, mutual love and harmony, which are cornerstones of the great Indian civilization'' he said.
The Chief Minister said the festival symbolises great composite cultural ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir is known all over. ''Such occasions strengthen the bonds of amity, love and secular temperament among all sections of the society'' Mr Azad said.
