Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) The Madras High Court today directed Actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jayapradha to pay the full amount of Rs 5.40 lakh on the insolvency order passed against her.
Justice V Balasubramaniam further directed Ms Jayapradha to pay 50 per cent of the property tax (around Rs 10 lakh) to Chennai Corporation and ordered her to produce the receipts of the payments made to the court by tomorrow.
The judge posted the case for further hearing to tomorrow.
Ms Jayapradha moved the High Court with a revocation petition yesterday, seeking to set aside the September 2006 High Court order, declaring her and two of her brothers as insolvents.
The writ petition was filed on behalf of Ms Jayapradha by her brother Rajbabu.
The Chennai Corporation, involved in a legal battle with Ms Jayapradha and her brothers over nonpayment of property tax to the tune of about Rs 20 lakh, obtained a property recovery order from the City Civil Court last week.
