Gavai calls upon people to perform their duties diligently
Patna, Mar 5 (UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gavai has urged the people to perform their duties sincerely as it would ensure amity, brotherhood and peaceful co-existence in the society.
Speaking here yesterday after releasing an English version of the great Indian epic ''Mahabharata'', Mr Gavai said it would enable people across the world to understand the ancient Vedic philosophy of life, which is becoming more relevant with each passing day in modern society.
''Justice prevails and ascendancy of right over wrong is the clear message of the great epic,'' he said, adding that its English version would provide ample opportunity to people across the world, breaching all boundaries of caste, creed and religion.
Mr N K Srivastava, an NRI doctor in Britain and son of late Damodar Prasad, the writer of the English version of the great epic, also came in for handsome applause from Mr Gavai for his efforts to publish it.
Mr Srivastava, also honoured as a member of the Order of British Empire (OBE), said it was ''tremendous'' but ''heartening'' to give a book form to the manuscript of his father.
