AP govt to distribute title deeds to tribals
Hyderabad, Mar 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (ST) Welfare Minister Redya Naik today said the government would distribute title deeds and 'pattas' to all eligible tribals, who were cultivating the forest lands as per the new ST and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers Act.
Replying to a question by Congress MLC G Venkata Ramana Reddy in the Council, Mr Naik said the government had set up 'monitoring committees' at state, district and divisional level to identify the beneficiaries. The distribution of the title deeds would be completed by October 30, 2008.
Stating that the government had allocated Rs 20 crore in the budget to speed up the process, he said the roadmap for implementing the Act according to the rules had been put into action. The government had taken it up as a time-bound programme.
