Bangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) While refusing to divulge whom she preferred in the presidential elections of the United States, reigning Wimbledon champion Venus Williams, expressed happiness that two of the candidates from Democratic party represented the minorities in her country.
At a press conference organised jointly by the UNESCO-Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) in which the KSLTA presented a cheque for 100000 USD for a programme for the cause of gender equality and women empowerment, a reporter asked Venus who her choice was between the two democratic candidates.
Stating that both the contestants obama and Ms Hillary Clinton were fighting hard to become the candidate for the presidential elections from the Democratic party, were representing the nation's minority groups Venus said,''It is nice to see that the candidates belonging to minority segment are making stir in the political circle''.
However, Venus, who is here to participate in the Bangalore Open, in which she is also playing the Doubles partnering her sister Serena refused to divulge her actual choice of the democratic party candidate.
