Two ULFA militants killed in encounter in Assam
Guwahati, Mar 4 (UNI) Two ULFA militants were killed in an encounter with police in Dibrugarh district today, official sources said.
Police, following a tip-off that four ULFA cadres were hiding in a house in Bhurburi village of Telpani forest area, a quick search operation was launched.
In the ensuing encounter, which lasted for more than two hours, two militants were killed, while as many managed to escape.
Two pistols, as many mobile phones, a diary and some documents were recovered from the slain militants, identified as Parikshit Chetri and Tapan Barua alias Arun Barua, both belonging to the outfit's 28th Battalion.
Both militants were arrested last year, but they jumped bail and joined the outfit again.
