SSP among 6 booked for college shoot out
Etawah, Mar 4 (UNI) Six people, including a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), were booked on court orders in connection with the January 9 shoot out at the Chaudhary Charan Singh College here.
At least one student had been killed and two others suffered serious wounds in a firing between students and police at the Chaudhary Charan Singh College in Chabra area.
Later, college peon Ram Gopal had moved an application to police and even informed Chief Minister Mayawati, Union Minister for Home Sriparakash Jaiswal, Inspector General of Police and DIG, but no case was registered against the accused.
Gopal had then taken shelter of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Rakesh Nain.
Hearing the case, the CJM directed the Saifai police station to register cases against Etawah SSP Siaram Sharan Aditya, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramlal Gautam, constables Malkhan Singh, Rajeev Dubey, Krishna Saini and Sanjeev Gautam.
On orders of the court, the accused were booked under section 302, 307, 148, 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code yesterday.
The CJM further directed Jaswant Nagar Kotwali in charge to investigate the case.
