Punjab Congress leader Deepa flees from police custody
Sangrur, Mar 4 (UNI) Congress leader Rajinder Kumar Deepa who was admitted in a hospital under police custody following a case registered against him after a clash with his brother-in-law and Congress leader Aman Arora over a property dispute, today fled from the police custody.
According to police sources, Deepa clashed with his brother-in-law Arora, who is a son of former minister Bhagwan Das Arora, last night in Sunam Town following a property dispute. While Aman Arora and his mother Parmeshwari Devi sustained head injuries, Deepa too was injured.
The police had registered a case against Deepa, his wife Sonia Deepa, his PA Aswani Kumar, Sarpanch Harcharan Singh Ubhawal and 15 other unidentified persons, who were involved in the clash under sections 308, 452, 342, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
SSP Arun Pal Singh today also suspended an ASI and four head constables who were on duty in the hospital.
Despite belonging to the same party, both of them do not see eye-to-eye with each other. While Aman Arora, had contested the last assembly polls from Sunam on the Congress ticket, Deepa entered the poll arena as an indendent, paving the way for the victory of the SAD candidate.
