PS Bank to lock horns with PP in Police Martyrs Hockey final

Jammu, Mar 4 (UNI) Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) has set a date in the final against Punjab Police (PP) in the ongoing third All India Police Martyrs Hockey tournament being played at K K Hakku stadium here.

Earlier in the first match of the day, PSB outclassed BSF Jallandhar in a well contested match by one solitary goal.

Despite hard efforts from both the sides, the first half ended goalless. The winning side got six penalty corners and a stroke, out of which one penalty corner was converted by Bikramjit Singh in the 43rd minute, which took the bankers into the final.

The lone goal scorer, Bikramjit Singh was adjudged Man of the match.

Meanwhile in the second semifinal, PP defeated Punjab State Electricity board (PSEB) 5-2. The Punjabi cops dominated the match from the very first minute of the play and remained attacking.

Satvinder Singh struck for PP in the 15th minute on a pass from the right flank and converted it into an outstanding field goal, which was leveled by ravinder singh from the opponent side in the 17th minute.

Playing 1-1, the war continued as Gabbar Singh made another positive attempt for the Punjab Police in the 28th minute through field goal. Dominating the first half 2-1, PP made no mistakes later and scored three more goals in the second half. Satvinder Singh (37th field goal), Kanwalpreet Singh (56th penalty corner) and Gabbar Singh (60th field goal) were the scorers in the post half time session.

However, Navdeep Singh from the loser's side converted his chance on a pass in the 40th minute.

The tournament is being hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir police under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association and Indian Hockey federation.
