Lucknow, Mar 4 (UNI) Ghazipur Police today nailed a sacked Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector in connection with the infamous J J Hospital shootout case of Mumbai.
On September 23, 1992, two members of the dreaded mafia don Arun Gawli gang and as many police personnel had been killed in the shoot out at J J Hospital.
The shootout was the aftermath of Dawod Ibrahim's borther-in-law Ibrahim Barkar's murder.
Working on a tip-off, cops cordoned off the village Pundesar and swooped upon Virendra Rai under Bhanwarkol police station area, ADG (Law, Order and STF) Brajlal said.
History-sheeters Subhash Thakur and Jain Surya Rao, prime accused in the case, have already been slapped with life imprisonment and 10-yr rigorous imprisonment respectively by court.
While another accused underworld mafia Dawod Ibrahim is still at large, wanted criminal Brijesh Singh had already been apprehended by the Orrisa Police.
The accused had been booked under section 143, 144, 148, 149, 302, 207, 332, 506, 452, 34/120b, 201, 202, 203, 204, 212 and 356 of IPC.
