India gives 2 million US dollars assistance to Tajikistan
New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) India will provide emergency humanitarian assistance of two million US dollars to Tajikistan to tide over the hardships faced by the people of the Central Asian Republic because of the unprecedented continuing cold weather in the country.
Of this amount, one million Dollars will be cash assistance.
An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said today that India had also expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Tajikistan in their rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
''In response to Government of Tajikistan's appeal for urgent assistance after unprecedented continuous cold weather in the country, the Government of India has decided to provide emergency humanitarian aid amounting to 2 million US Dollars to Tajikistan, of which 1 million Dollars will be cash assistance,'' the spokesman added.
