HC asks Forest Dept to evict encroachments on Devaswom land

Kochi, Mar 4(UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the Forest Department to take steps to evict encroachments in 10,000 acre of Kallekulangara Devaswom land in Palakkad District.

The court also asked the Department to ensure trees on the land were not cut and removed.

A Division Bench comprising Justices C N Rramachandran Nair and T R Ramachandran Nair also directed the District Collector to report the present position of the land to the court.

The order was issued while considering a public interest petition filed by nature lovers movement seeking a direction to the government to reposess the encroached land.
