Gang busted, articles worth over Rs 8 lakh recovered

Kakinada, Mar 4 (UNI) The East Godavari police today busted a six-member inter-district criminal gang allegedly involved in thefts and various other offences and recovered gold ornaments, cameras and US currency all worth Rs 8,33,800.

Speaking to newspersons here, Superintendent of Police B Srinivasulu said all the gang members Pulaparti Anilkumar (24), Seela Anilraju (21), Balla Annaji (25), Anasuri Appala Raju (26) Gandeti Uday (24) and Lattala Srinivasarao (36) hailed from Visakhapatnam district.

While the first accused Anilkumar was arrested early in the day near the port railway station, others were subsequently nabbed based on the information given by Anilkumar.

The official said the accused had confessed that they were involved in the thefts in Kakinada, Ongole, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam and Eluru.

The articles recovered from them included two diamond bangles, a diamond locket, three pairs of diamond ear studs, three cameras, a video camera and US currency.
