Congress to observe "Nandigram martyrs' day" on state budget day
Kolkata, Mar 4 (UNI) West Bengal Congress Legislature party leader Manas Bhuniya today said it will observe March 14 as Nandigram martyrs' day throughout the state, the day the state budget will be tabled in the Assembly.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bhuiya said, ''The Left Front government would submit the economic deeds in this budget session, where the state government's financial condition would be reflected and our party's MLA has asked to submit the details of what has so far been done and the future plans for the state.
''We have called a party meeting on March 6 and urged PCC president Priyaranjan Dasmunsi to be present at the meeting as the budget session would begin on that day and the party's elected members were preparing to raise their voice against the ruling party's anti-people policies in the Assembly, he said.
''We will also discuss on the Congress-led UPA government's flagship programmes, including the NRGES, law and order, education for all to the rural areas, the CLP leader said.
He said this budget session is crucial as it will begin just before the panchayat elections.
''We will submit a memorandum to all the BDOs in the state and enquire on how the Central funds were being spent, he said.
He further added that Mr Dasmunsi, along with several other prominent Congress MLAs would visit Nandigram on March 14.
