Mumbai, Mar 4 (UNI) Without naming Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, State Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today averred that the state leaders were unable to capitalise on the historic decision of loan waiver for debt-ridden small and marginal farmers, while every other political outfit was taking credit for the same.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rane said on realising that people were unaware about what Congress had done, he himself thought of organising rallies and for that reason, he had called the press conference.
He said by June thisa year, 67 per cent of the small and marginal farmers from Vidarbha and Marathwada would have no loans against their land record.
Taking a dig at his former boss Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, he said Mr Thackeray has been taking unnecessary credit for the loan waiver when the Congress government actually did all the efforts.
When asked about the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar taking the credit for the same, the Congress leader said being a leader of the party (NCP), he was legitimate to take credit.
Mr Rane, who has been considered as challenger for Mr Deshmukh, had earlier addressed a news conference at New Delhi raising the issues relating to state leadership.
