New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Minister of state for Water Resources Jaiprakash N Yadav today said the Orissa government will be spending Rs 50 crore for the modernisation work of the Hirakud Dam.
A provision in the Budget for the amount has been made during the current year, he said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
As a short-term measure, an amount of Rs two crore has been provided, he said.
The dam, one among the world's longest, built over Mahanadi river was the first major multipurpose river valley project, which started after Independence.
