Chandigarh, Mar 3 (UNI) The Punjab Assembly today paid rich tributes to Raminder Singh Bularia, a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) member of the present House, who passed away last month.
The House also remembered former Punjab minister Balbir Singh, former MLAs Gurdial Singh, Ajaib Singh Raunta, Giani Rajinder Singh and a number of freedom fighters who passed away during the last two months.
Moving the motion on the obituary references in the House, Chief Minister described Bularia as an upcoming politician who was always concerened about the development of Amritsar city. He expressed grief over the suddent demise of Bularia, a first time member of the House who was elected from the Amritsar South constituency in the Assembly polls in February last year.
Mr Badal also condoled the death of Balbir Singh, a former minister, who later on also bacame a member of the Rajya Sabha and then of the Lok Sabha. Balbir Singh had left the Congress to join the SAD after the last Lok Sabha polls.
Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal also paid tributes to Bularia and Balbir Singh, who started their political career from the Congress party.
Others who paid tributes were Charanjit Singh Channi (IND) and Manoranjan Kalia, Minister for Local Bodies. Speaker Nirmal Singh Khalon also condoled the death of the former members of the House.
The members also paid tributes to the freedom fighters-- Ved Prakash, Ujjagar Singh, Pritam Singh, Ram Singh panchhi, Tehal Singh, Tara Singh and Walati Ram.
A two minute silence was also observed by the members in memory of the departed souls.
The motion moved by the Chief Minister was later unanimously passed by the House, After adopting the motion the House adjourned for the day.
