Marriage dreams shattered; jilted girl poisons lover

Karnal, Mar 3 (UNI) Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! The proverb came true when a jilted girl gave a poison-laced drink to her married lover, after she came to know that he was already a married man having two children, police said today.

According to police, the victim, Manoj(36), died yesterday in a private hospital, where the girl had left him on Saturday in serious condition.

In his statement to the police, Manoj, hailing from Jind, had claimed that Sunaina of Indri, with whom he had an affair, had administered him poison after calling him for a meeting at a public park.

Apparently, Sunaina wanted to take revenge after Manoj had expressed his inability to marry her and confessed that he was in fact a married man with two children.

Angered over the confession, Sunaina allegedly called him in a park here on Saturday and allegedly gave him a soft drink laced with some poisonous substance.

After having the cold drink, Manoj fell unconscious.

Sunaina along with a man, Rajinder, dropped him at a private hospital and disappeared.

The doctors at the hospital immediately informed the police.

Police on the basis of the statement given by the victim had registered a case under section 302 of the IPC against the girl.
