India's exports up 20% but imports grew 64% in January
New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) India's exports grew by 20.47 per cent in January to 13.14 billion dollars as compared to 10.90 billion dollars in the same month last year.
Imports during the month stood at 22.50 billion dollars, recording a growth of 63.57 per cent over 13.75 billion dollars in January 2007, government data released today said.
For the April-January period of 2007-08, exports went up by 21.62 per cent to 124.19 billion dollars from 102.11 billion dollars in the comparable period of previous fiscal.
Imports during the period expanded 29.63 per cent to 191.60 billion dollars from 147.81 billion dollars in a year ago.
Trade deficit for April-January is estimated at 67.41 billion dollars, up from 45.70 billion dollars deficit during the same period last fiscal.
