Haryana to increase unemployment allowance: Birender Singh

Ambala, Mar 3 (UNI) A proposal to increase the unemployment allowance of the educated youth registered with the employment exchange (EE) is under active consideration of the Haryana government.

"At present the unemployed youth registered with the EE are granted dearness allowance from Rs 100 to 500 per month which is too meager in the time of price rise even less than the daily wage earners, " said Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh here yesterday.

"The new proposal is likely to come into effect during the next financial year," he said adding that the unemployment allowance given to the educated unemployed was not sufficient and it should be honourable in commensurate with their qualifications.
