Meghalaya: 1 killed, 5 nabbed, arm seized
Shillong, Mar 3: A Congress worker was beaten to death allegedly by NCP supporters in Patangre village under Selsella constituency, as polling progressed peacefully elsewhere in Meghalaya today.
Bangbang Marak(30) succumbed to injuries after three persons, alleged to be supporters of Nationalist Congress Party, assaulted him, West Garo Hills District, Superintendent of Police JF Marak told UNI here over phone from Tura.
Mr Marak said they have registered a murder case against the trio.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker and NCP's Chief Ministerial candidate PA Sangma's second son Conrad A Sangma is contesting from Selsella against Congress MLA Clement Sangma.
In another incident, the state police yesterday arrested five persons and seized a .32 pistol and a long 'dao' (knife) from their possession at Mukhla village in Jaintia Hills while they were travelling in a vehicle belonging to the United Democratic Party.
