Nagpur, Mar 3 (UNI) Brown sugar estimated to be worth Rs 40 lakh in the international market, was seized and two people were arrested in this connection, here today.
Speaking to mediapersons, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr B K Upadhyay said the 200 gm of brown sugar was found concealed in the hollow soles of the shoes of Manohar Singh Kalu (20), a resident of Mandsaur district in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided Kalu's residence here, but did not find anything incriminating. They then received an indication that the narcotics could be concealed in the suspect's shoes, after which the substance was found, Dr Upadhyay said.
Later, police arrested another suspect, identified as Satish Baghel, a resident of the district, who is suspected to be the drugs courier, the Commissioner stated.
