Jammu, Mar 2 (UNI) Two Jammu and Kashmir fencers have been selected for the Olympic Qualifying Championship and Asian Fencing Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Bangkok in the month of April.

As per reports, fencers Rashid Ahmad and Sanjeev Suri from the state would be among four fencers representing India in the championships.

For the first time, these two fencers would represent such prestigious championship and if selected, they would participate in the Beijing Olympic in 2008.

''Me and Rashid have worked hard for the championship and hopefully we will be selected for the Olympics,'' Sanjeev Suri, told UNI.

''It is a great honour for both of us that we have been selected for the world class championship. We will try our level best to perform and get berth in Olympics,'' another fencer Rashid Ahmed said.

Both Mr Rashid and Mr. Sanjeev had already participated in world level championships at Cuba, Germany and Russia and had been trained at Leipzig (Germany) and St. Pertsurburg (Russia).
