New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) About 1500 lawyers from across the country belonging to SC, ST and OBC class have come together in the capital for a two-day seminar to urge the Centre to give them proper representation in the judiciary.

The seminar will have many eminent jurist who represent the minority class.

Justice B S A Swamy, retired judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and advisor to the Lawyers Forum for Social Justice today said the entire judicial system has become the captive of two or three communities. There is hardly any representation of SCs, STs and OBCs in the Judicial system, be it the Supreme Court, the High Courts, quasi-judicial bodies, commissions, committees or forums.

We want statutory and mandatory provisions to give reservation to the unrepresanted classes. The present scenario is such that the judicial system is working like a family tree.

It is like a dynaasty where the judges appoint the other employees of the court of the same upper class. Heirarchy has been built up not only for judges but in their ministeral services too, he said.

Speaking on the issue of Contempt of Court, Mr Swamy said the scope it should be limited to the judicial orders and the people must have the right to assess the judgements pronounced by the courts. Judges should be made accountable to the public and their every order should be supported by reasoning and proper law point, he said.

Founded by former Law Minister and judge of the Karnataka High Court Late Justice L G Havanur, who also drafted the constitution for the South Africa government, Lawyers Forum ' for Social Justice aims at making social reforms.
