Ujjain, MP, Mar 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Congress President and Union Minister of State for Personnel Suresh Pachouri has alleged that the BJP Government was tampering with voters list with the objective of committing irregularities in the assembly elections due to take place at the end of this year.
''Apart from maintaining hold on polling booths, close eye has to be kept on voters list. The BJP Government had already removed thousands of names from the voters list,'' Mr Pachouri said, while addressing party workers here yesterday.
Mr Pachouri, who visited this temple town for the first time after being appointed the state party President, said the BJP had admitted that it could not gain victory against the Congress in the assembly polls in a direct manner. So, it had started tampering with the voters list.
Alleging that the four-year-long tenure of the BJP Government had been mired with rampant corruption, he said corruption was being exposed wherever construction work was taking place although most contractors belonged to the BJP.
He claimed that the government was not providing electricity to rural areas as per its promise and people in rural areas were getting only 2-4 hour power supply.
