Patna, Mar 2 (UNI) Bihar government will flag-off its information campaign on ''Bharat Nirman'' programme to bring awareness and empower the rural segments of the society between March 8-12 at Saraiya in Muzaffarpur district.
Addressing a joint press conference here today Directorate of Field Publicity Officer-cum-Chairman PIB, Bihar, S K Malviya, Director Doordarshan, Patna, Sashank Narain, Deputy Director of AIR, Arun Kumar Verma informed that the programme will be inaugurated by the Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
Mr Malviya maintained, the five-day programme would include awareness campaign on rural development schemes, 15-point programmes of the Prime Minister for minorities, free distribution of forms for scholarship to minority students, on right to information act and ''Nirmal Gram Puraskar''. The media division of Information and Broadcasting ministry, CAPART, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, several NGOs and SHGs would install their stalls to educate the masses.
He further informed that the rural development minister would also lead a road show with symbolic cultural programmes, highlighting the salient features of Bharat Nirman programme which include connecting villages with 1000 population in plain areas and 500 population in hilly areas from the main roads, availablity of electricity, basic telephone facility, drinking water, pucca houses to sixty lakh BPL families and converting one crore hectares barren land into cultivating land by 2009.
