Malda, Mar 2 (UNI) Police rescued a 13-year-old girl and arrested a person for his investment in flesh trade from Katihar district of Bihar today.
Malda SP Satyajit Banerjee said they had tapped a ransom call between the girl's family and the kidnappers, who picked up the girl from the district's Bhagabanpur area about 15 days back. She was sedated by her kidnappers before taking her across the border to Bihar's Abadpur village, where she was kept confined in a room.
The girl had been identified as a resident of Bhagabanpur village under Rotua police station in Malda.
The kidnapper had been indentified as a resident of Harishchandrapur, a place in the district, very close to the state's border with Bihar.
Police said the kidnapper had been wanted for his involvement in human trafficking throughout the country.
Malda police sources said the acused was being interrogated.
