Church body concerned over poll-related violence
Kohima, Mar 02: The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) today expressed concern over poll-related violence in some parts of the state ahead of the March five Assembly elections.
In a release, NBCC Peace Affairs Director Rev L Kari Longchar appealed to the people to shun all forms of conflicts, confrontations and violence between different party supporters.
Criticising the use of money power in the elections, he stated that the demand of money by voters was immoral.
About the alleged involvement of the Naga underground cadres in the electioneering process, the Director said soliciting the support of the underground cadres from different factions by the candidates was illegal and immoral.
Rev Longchar also said the NBCC was delighted to see many responsible people working so hard according to the Election Rules and Christian and democratic principles.
