By Staff

Jamshedpur, Mar 1 (UNI) Tata Football Academy (TFA) stormed into the final, outclassing Sports Authority of India (SAI), Delhi by a brace in the semis of the under-19 JRD Tata Youth Cup Invitational Football Tournament at the JRD Tata sports complex here today.

Deriving encouragement from the spectators, local outfit TFA dominated the game from the very begining and unleashed frequent attacks on their opponent. TFA was awarded a penalty by referee Piyush Biswas in the 23rd minute when their captain and agile striker Lalram Lua moved to the goal inside the box but he was tripped by a Delhi defender. Sushil Kisku made no mistake to deceive goalkeeper Pradeep Basumatari (1-0).

TFA continued to attack in the second half too and Robin Singh played a wall pass and took a pile diver from the top of the box to give 2-0 lead in the 51st minute.

The SAI team from Delhi launched counter attack occasionally but took wayward shots before the box.TFA custodian Jagroop Singh also did a good work under the bar.

TFA could have won by a bigger margin but their strikers missed a number of sitters.

The local team will play JCT Phagwara in the final slated to be held on March 3, coinciding with the Founder's Day of Tata Steel.
