Single body to manage water supply in Guwahati soon
Guwahati, Mar 1 (UNI) Assam's capital city Guwahati would soon have a single water supply body to streamline the water supply in the city, Guwahati Development Department Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma informed today.
The city, which has been selected under JNNURM, would have a single Guwahati Jal Board for water supply in the city limits, Dr Sharma said.
He informed that Rs 280 crore has been sanctioned at a sanction committee meeting of the JNNURM yesterday for water supply scheme in the city.
While this scheme will include the part of the city from Fancy Bazaar area to Bharalumukh, Fatasil Ambari and the peripharies, Asian Development Bank will finance the water supply scheme in capital complex of Dispur and a Japan-based group will provide the money for central Guwahati.
Guwahati, NE's largest and most important city, has been witnessing several developmental measures following the inclusion of the city under JNNURM.
