Punjab prepares development plans for 44 towns
Ludhiana, Mar 1 (UNI) Punjab Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia today said a comprehensive Centre sponsored plan to strengthen the infrastructure facilities in 44 towns of the state has been chalked out.
Addressing the mediapersons here, he said the development plans of 18 towns under this scheme had already been submitted with Central Government for final approval.
Excellent basic facilities including sewerage, water supply, street lights etc would be provided in all the towns, he said, adding that to get approval, a high level meeting with the Central Government authorities would be held on March 11 in New Delhi.
Mr Kalia claimed that with the execution of this plan, all these towns would witness improvement in basic amenities. Expressing serious concern over the increasing pollution of under ground water in the towns due to inadequate sewerage facilities, the Minister said a special project of Rs 120 crore had been prepared to take remedial measures to check the problem.
