Lt Gen P C Bhardwaj assumes charge of Northern Command
Jammu, Mar 1 (UNI) Lieutenant General P C Bhardwaj today assumed the charge of Northern Command, Defence Spokesman here said.
Lt Gen Bhardwaj belongs to the elite Special Forces and was commissioned into the First Battalion of the Parachute Regiment in June 1970.
He is an alumni of the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. The General Officer has undergone a Special Forces Officers Course at Special Forces School, Fort Bragg, US.
Lt. Gen Bhardwaj was decorated with a Vir Chakra in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and Shaurya Chakra for a daring rescue operation.
He also commanded the elite Parachute Brigade and was the Defence Attache at Myanmar and has vast experience in Jammu and Kashmir having been, the Brigadier General Staff at Nagrota, commanded a Counter Insurgency Force in Doda and the Corps Cdr of 14 Corps at Leh.
Meanwhile his wife Deepa Bhardwaj assumed responsibility of President AWWA, Northern Command.
