Aizawl, Mar 1 (UNI) The Mizoram Pradesh Congress action today alleged that the ''model piggery village'' and ''bamboo ropeway'' near Khawzawl village, on which Rs 18 lakh and Rs 194 lakh had been spent respectively, still remained incomplete.

''The ropeway which had been constructed with the Baffacos (Bamboo Flowering and Famine Combat Scheme) funds and inaugurated by state Environment and Forest Minister Dr R Lalthangliana in 2005, now remains non-functional. The entire system is manned by a lone muster roll employee who has never been paid since he got the job in 2005,'' Congress action committee chairman Wg Cdr (rtd) Lalzawma said.

The Congress also lamented that the Rs 194 lakh model piggery village was now being occupied by only six pig-farming families with five pigs, against the original plan for 30 families.

''Most of the pig-farming families have deserted the model village after the government's failure to look after them. Now, all that remains is a ruined village with shattered structures all over the place. The pig farmers have christened the model village as village of deception,'' Mr Lalzawma said.

The Congress also alleged that the MNF government was squandering the centrally-sponsored Baffacos funds.
