Britney and K-Fed not in favour of custody trial showdown

New York, Mar 1 : After months of giving court attendance, Britney Spears and ex-hubby Kevin Federline do not want to fight over their kids in court anymore, it has been revealed.

From what family insiders have revealed, there won't be any custody trial showdown between the 26-year-old star and K-Fed.

Sources say that the situation has cooled down because of Britney's dad Jamie Spears, who was made her conservator in an earlier hearing.

"Britney's progress since Jamie has become her conservator has made a lasting impression on Kevin, and he realizes that she is dealing with a lot and being proactive in her treatment," The New York Post quoted the source, as saying. Besides, Federline also doesn't want a long, extended custody battle to take a toll on Britney's already severe mental condition. His topmost priority remains the safety and well-being of his sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1.

The source said that Jamie "has made strong headway convincing Britney how close she could come to losing the kids if she doesn't do something to change her behaviour."

The source added: Britney has already had several visits with her sons and she "just lights up the minute she sees them." She realizes that she has the reins of her destiny with the boys, in her own hands, and that "any return to her past antics would force Kevin to pursue a custody trial."

However, the family law expert said that it is possible to avert a custody trial when both parents are able to agree to the terms of a formal custody agreement.

Allegedly Britney's family law attorneys are working toward "an ironclad custody agreement that would keep this drama from playing out in the public."

According to K-Fed's attorney Mark Kaplan, the custody trial that was supposed to begin in April would most probably be delayed as Spears is now represented a new team of attorneys. He also said that Kevin never wanted to keep the boys from their mother.
