Bengal, Jharkhand win Ranji ties against Tripura, Orissa

Guwahati, Mar 1 (UNI) West Bengal defeated Tripura, while Jharkhand handed out a humiliating defeat to Orissa in the East Zone Ranji One Day matches here today.

In the West Bengal-Tripura face off at Nehru Stadium, West Bengal restricted Tripura to 169 for nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Ranapdeep Bose was the main striker for West Bengal, picking four wickets, conceding 54 runs.

Rajiv Dutta was the top scorer for Tripura with 41 runs, followed by Subol Choudhury with 40 runs.

In reply, West Bengal reached the target in 33 overs for the loss of only two wickets.

Openers Anustup Majumdar and Arndam Das put the team on the front foot with individual scores of 61 and 75 respectively. Jayanta Keshab and Rajiv Saha picked up the two West Bengal wickets for Tripura.

In the other match at Maligaon railway stadium between Jharkhand and Orissa, Jharkand won by a huge margin of 96 runs.

Batting first, Jhrakhand put up a total of 261 runs for nine wickets. Opener Subroto Ghosh was the top scorer with 69 runs. I Jaggi and Amir Hashmi were the other leading scorers for the team with 65 and 40 respectively.

For Orissa, Paresh Patel made a five-wicket haul, conceding 41 runs. Samir Mohanty picked up two wickets for the team. Orissa batsmen could not survive the Jharkhand attack and were bundled out for 165 runs in 37.3 overs.

Holodhar Das was the top scorer for the team with 35 runs.

Sammy Gupta scalped three wickets for 28 runs for Orissa, while Sahid Khan picked two for 19 runs.
