Anju to spearhead Indian challenge in South Asian Championships

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Anju Bobby George will spearhead the Indian challenge in the South Asian Athletics Championships scheduled to be held in Cochin (Kerala) on March 7-8.

The selection committee of the Athletics Federation of India met today to decide on the team.

Chatoli Hamza (1500m), who has qualified for the Beijing Olympics, is expected to make a podium finish along with Amarjeet Singh (triple jump) and Ghamanda Ram (800m).

In the women's section, India will expect medals from Anju (long jump), Sinimole Jose (1500m) and Seema Antil (discuss).

Chitra Somaon, Mandeep Kaur, S Geetha, Manjeet Kaur, K Mridula and Sini Jose who will represent India in the 400m and 4x400m relay events, are also expected to be among the medals.
