Sinimole wins 1500m gold

Bhopal, Feb 29 (UNI) Running to a plan, Jharkhand's Sinimol Paulose clocked clocked 4:23.71s to win the 1500m gold on the last day of the 14th Federation Cup Athletics championship here today.

Kerala's Bindhu SR (4:33.75) and UP's Priyanka Singh Patel (4:34.22), finished second and third respectively in this event.

In the men's pole vault event, Gajanan Upadhyay of Jharkhand won the Gold Medal with a performance of 4.90m.

In the 10000m run, Armyman Surender Singh timed 29:52.69 to claim the gold. Santosh Patel of Jharkhand (30:10.91) was second for a slver..

Delhi's Ravinder beat favourite Chatoli Hamza to the second place in the 1500m.

Army's Hamza clocked a disappointing 3:52.38s while Ravinder timed 3:52.01s.

Sinimol Paulose and Kuldev Singh were declared best female and male athletes respectvely of the championship. Sinimol secured 1096 and Kuldev collected 1112 points.

Jharkhand won the team championship by claiming 11 Gold 3 Silver and 7 bronze while Army Sports Control Board came second with 7 gold 3 silver and 3 bronze.
