NHRC notice to MCD Commissioner,MS of hospital on woman death
New Delhi, Feb 29 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the MCD Commissioner and the Medical superintendent of a hospital, on an incident in which a woman died after delivering a baby outside the hospital, and directed them to file a report.
The notices were sent after the Commission took suo-motu cognisance of a newspaper report dated February 22, which it found to be distressing''.
The newspaper report had said a 27-year-old woman Hemanti, resident of Khaira village approached the Swami Dayanand Hospital on February 16 and was refused admission by the doctors on duty. She was forced to deliver the baby outside the premises of the hospital.
Though her baby is in healthy condition, the woman died soon after.
The report mentioned that the death was due to negligence of doctors. It also said a three-member committee led by a vigilance officer of the hospital has been constituted to look into the case.
The Commission asked the authorities to reply to the notices within four weeks.
