New Delhi, Feb 29 (UNI) The Delhi High Court will hear on March 4 the plea of Court comissioners who were appointed by it to monitor the demolitions of unauthorised constructions in the Capital.
Court Commissioner Sanjeeve Bhandari told the Bench comprising Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rekha Sharma that despite his repeated efforts the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has not initiated any action against the properties which have projections on the Public land at Shahdara, Gandhi Nagar and other areas of East Delhi.
The MCD had earlier told the court that there is an acute shortage of junior as well as assistant engineers in their building department due to which they cannot undertake any demolitions in Delhi.
The court had earlier clarified that all unauthorised constructions in the capital should be removed at the earliest and also asked the public to remove their encroachments on their own and apply for their completion certificates.
However, nothing was done so far in this direction, Mr Bhandari said.
