Dreaded Hizb Mujahideen militant surrender in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 29 (UNI) Disillusioned with the violence, a dreaded militant of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) today surrendered along with arms and ammunition before the Army.
I wanted to lead a normal and peaceful life, a dreaded HM militant Irshad Kalas said after he surrendered alongwith one ak rifle, three magazines and 87 rounds of ammunition before the Commanding Officer (CO) of 5 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Ganderbal.
He said he was forced to join the militancy.
I participated in a number of militancy related incidents, particularly in Ganderbal area, during the past six months.
Kalas said he surrendered after realising that violence will take the people of Kashmir nowhere. It bring death and destruction during all these years, he said.
He welcomed the governments decision to help the surrendered militants to lead a normal and peaceful life once again.
Klas said other militants are also disillusioned and they too wanted to surrender.
Commanding Officer welcomed him and expressed the hope thaat other misguided youths will also join the national mainstream.
