DoNER gets marginally higher budgetary allocation of Rs 1,471 cr
New Delhi, Feb 29 (UNI) Budget proposals for 2008-09 has made a higher allocation of Rs 1,471 crore towards the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) as against Rs 1,432 crore provided in the revised estimated for the previous year.
According to the budget documents, out of the total allocation, a sum of Rs 1,455 is provided towards plan outlay while Rs 16 crore is provided towards the non-plan expenditure.
In the Plan outlay, the highest allocation of Rs 650 crores was made towards the generation of resources for North Eastern Region and Sikkim. Last year under the revised scheme, the Government provided Rs 636 crores. The next bigger allocation of Rs 544.50 crore was bagged by the various schemes of the Northern Eastern Council (NEC)> This was Rs 500 crores last year and a Special Package for Bodoland of Rs 100 crore was maintained at its previous year's level.
The budget proposal also maintained the Rs 60 crore as loan to North Eastern Development Finance Corporation limited (NEDFI) as that of the previous year.
