Curbing terrorism, corruption in department is priority:chief
Mumbai, Feb 29 (UNI) Newly-appointed city police chief Hassan Gafoor today said his first priority would be to curb terrorist activities and tackle corruption within the department.
Talking to reporters here after taking over charge from outgoing Commissioner of Police D N Jadhav, Mr Gafoor said his second priority would be to maintain law and order in the metropolis, and put a stop to communal violence, murders of senior citizens and crimes against women and children.
Praising the city Police, the 33rd city police commissioner said Mumbai Police was known for their efficiency of detecting cases across the country. Now, with him at the helm, he would ensure that the standards and efficiency of the police would be improved to maintain peace in the city.
Mr Gafoor emphasised that the need of the hour is to curb corruption in the department.
